Alumni 2013-14

Archana Patel

After graduating from the DSM, Archana has done multiple plays, shorts films, and web series. She has worked with production houses like Utopia and Ideas Unlimited.

Archana used the skills acquired at The Drama School Mumbai to form Meat Puppet Company with fellow batchmates Samridhi Dewan and Saudamini Kalra. The Meat Puppet Company has staged 2 highly acclaimed productions thus far, has taken it’s work to Dubai and now even works with corporate theatre. Archana recently completed the Indian Theatre Forum’s arts management SMART programme.

Ashish Pore

Ashish is currently discovering his own practice and working within the industry.

Chirag Lobo

Post the DSM, Chirag has been very active on the theatre scene. He has been working with four stage productions. Namely Ripples by The Blind and the Elephant Theatre Group, The Elephant Journey, and Love 2.0 with Anvarat Theatre Group. He has also worked on the online platform with production houses like Cinema4, TVF (The Viral Fever), and Jamic Films. He also plays multiple characters in Crumpled: A Compilation of Imperfect Love Stories directed by an ex-student of the DSM, Aakash Prabhakar.

Chirag is at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama furthering his education in the craft through the school’s MA in Acting.

Gaurav Karmakar

After graduating from the DSM, Gaurav assisted faculty Deepal Doshi, in his theatre workshop ‘Culmination, Performance, Preparation’ at the Mumbai University, for students of the MA in Theatre Arts. He worked on Dharamjudh for 4 months, a play produced by theatre group Rammat. He is also associated with another start-up theatre group, "The Theatre Bees". Gaurav is looking forward to discovering and working on scripts of his choosing in different roles and capacities.

Harish Kulkarni

After graduating from the DSM, Harish founded Natakbaaz, a theatre group and production house, with batchmate Sambhaji Sasane. Under the Natakbaaz banner, Harish is currently directing  plays and YouTube series. Meanwhile, he is also taking his Marathi solo play, Dashanan, a play dealing with a different aspect of the mythological evil king, Ravan, across Mumbai and intends to take it across India.

Harish conducts workshops with schools and NGOs, too. His long-term dream is to start a theatre school for children at the grassroot level.

Heena Sharma

She has worked with The Blind and The Elephant Theatre Group, Theatre Garage Project, Aarambh Productions, Company Theatre, Ashvin Gidwani Productions for various projects.

Manraj Singh

He’s done a TV series for Sony Pal, an independent movie in Bangalore, a couple of ads and a web series. Manraj recently starred in Romil and Jugal, a webseries on AltBalaji. He wants to keep acting and hence will keep auditioning for TV and films.

Mikhail Sen

He has done 4 productions - The Stranger, 9 Jakhoo Hill, Flypaper Trap and The Legend of Lovers between Mumbai and Bangalore under productions like Playpen, QTP, Rage Productions. He studied further at Drama Centre, London. He wishes to keep working, growing and developing as an actor, director and theatre maker.

Prashansa Sharma

After graduating from DSM, she started a theatre company called Kuhu, and further went on to perform at The Edge- Residency with John Britton in Lesvos, Greece. July 2014.

She has been a part of the following plays:

  1. The Curious Climb of Cutter Chee by Benjamin Samuels with Theatre Professionals.
  2. Nobody Wants My Love by Bikram Ghosh/ Tadpole Repertory.
  3. Women By Women by Manjari Kaul/ Yellowcat Theatre & Instituto Cervantes.
  4. DIY Day by Bikram Ghosh/ Tadpole Repertory, 5. Italian Comedy Indian Ishytle by Deepal Doshi/Indian Cartel.

She has been a part of two web series called Baked and Cash Dash. She has acted in many independent films of which Love is Dead went on to become the Audience Favorite at 48 Hour Film Festival, Prague. Further, she wants world peace.

Rahul Valmiki

After graduating from DSM, he wrote and performed a piece called ‘What's in a Name?’ which was mentored by Mahesh Dattani. He directed his first professional play called "The Date(d)".

He was a faculty intern at Actor Training Programme conducted in Mumbai by SDDS Education of Australia in collaboration with University of Melbourne's Victorian College of Arts. He was the assistant director to Mahesh Dattani on his movie Hasmukh Sahab ki Wasihat, also translated the script into Hindi from the original Play - Where there's a will by Mahesh Dattani. Further, he wishes to find work as an actor.

Sambhaji Sasane

A Computer Science Post-Graduate from Kolhapur who found his calling in storytelling in Films & Theatre. He was the recipient of a Scholarship of DSM & MMSS which enabled him to pursue his journey at The Drama School, Mumbai.

Sambhaji has worked on plays in Marathi, Hindi, English as well as Kannada. He has worked with groups like Indian Ensemble for their play, Muktidham, directed by Abhishek Majumdar and also formed a theatre group called NatakBaaz, with his colleague Harish and performed their First Solo Play, Hodi (Ship).

Sambhaji was a part of the play Tartuffe, written by Moliere & Directed by Daniel Goldman, where he played the part of Tartuffe, which was performed across India. He has also been part of corporate shows for Meat Puppet Company & BSLI.

He has been a part of a TV series on Zee Yuva, worked as the lead in a Marathi Feature Film named Wagherya, directed by Sameer Asha Patil, screened at MAMI. He has worked in an Independent Hindi Feature Love & Shukla, directed by Siddharth Jatla. He has also been a part of independent Mauka Mauka series of Ads which ran during the cricket World Cup. He has worked on independent Ad films for KBC (Kaun Banega Crorepati) and TATA Motors.

Samridhi Dewan

After graduating, she started her own theatre company called Meat Puppet Company with batchmates Archana and Saudamini. She has done  corporate shows. She has also performed in many plays with productions like Dur Se Brothers, Shapeshift Collective. She can be seen in ads and has been associated with Anurag Kashyap’s Ishaana Movies. Further, she wishes to take her theatre company ahead. Samriddhi recently completed the Indian Theatre Forum’s arts management SMART programme.

Saudamini Kalra

After graduating, she co-founded Meat Puppet company with Samridhi Dewan. She has acted and been a part of various productions with The Drama School Mumbai, Naya Pata Collective, Thespo, Dice Media, Endemol India, NSPA, Mumbai Theatre Guide, Kotak, Glenmark Pharma, Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education,Taj Inner Circle. She started a professional two-year program at L'École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in October 2016. Further, plans to continue work with her theatre company and collaborate on projects that contribute to society positively.

Tanvee Ravi

After graduating, she started working on the Bollywood Musical Jaan-e-jigar, that opened on 31st October, 2016 in Dubai. Worked on the devised play 07/07/07, based on the written accounts of Reyhaneh Jabbari, directed by Faezeh Jalali which opened on 2nd, December, 2015 and awarded the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards for the Best Ensemble. She devised and performed 3 Chairs, a Clown piece, with Rohit Mehra for the Prithvi Carnival, 2015. Further, she worked on devising and creating Keep Calm and #ashtag, a play for teenagers that explores gender in public spaces. The piece was supported by Theatre Professionals and Max Mueller Bhavan, and is mentored by Sophia Stepf.
She has conducted a basic theatre workshop for students between ages 12 and 15 at Air Force station, Tambaram, Chennai in December 2014. The workshop explored working as an ensemble, states of tension, objectives and intentions, movement and improvisation etc. She has been a part of various productions like The Curious Climb of Cutter Chee-a gangster spectacle with The Drama School, Mumbai, The Seussification of a Midsummer Night’s Dream with Tortilla Entertainment Company, The Sketches, a production by Centerstage, The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet with Tortilla Entertainment Company. Bob’s Date with Tortilla Entertainment Company, Pizza Man with Green Fairy Productio. She believes that the endeavor will always be to make fantastic work. To be known as the greatest actor in history. To make a mark somewhere in the world.

Tushar Mathew

After graduating, he joined the Dell Arte International School of Physical Theatre, doing an MFA in ensemble based physical theatre.


Alumni 2014-15

Aakash Prabhakar

Aakash has worked on plays with Dreamstage Productions, T for Theatre and has had a show with #Fame called Lunchbreak. He is now in the process of building his own theatre company because he wants to be a theatre-maker and not just an actor.

Abhinav Grover

He is learning Yakshagana at the Yakshagana Kendra, Udupi. He has won various intercollegiate and other folk dance festivals. His play that won many awards at Mood Indigo, IIT Bombay and Unmaad, IIM Bangalore was invited to perform at Ravindra Kala Kshetra, Bangalore, for CGK Rashtriya Rangotsavl and Thespo. He has set up BeTaal - a theatre company with DSM fellow Vaishnavi Ratna Prashant.

Himani Pant

She taught with Theatre Professionals as an instructor for their Young People's Theatre Programme. She was part of the award-winning ensemble for 07/07/07 with FATs The Arts, Faezeh Jalali.

Ishan Khanna

After passing out from the DSM, he has been involved in many things and creating lots of opportunity in the world. Performing clown shows. Acting,-Doing back stage, lights and sound in various plays in some of the plays. Worked with Sanjna Kapoor for Junoon. He is casting director for a film called 'Dirty heroes' starting Arunoday Singh, Atul Kulkarni, Rajesh Sharma and many others under the banner of Talking Frames production directed by Mr. Rajesh ganguly. He is also acting in this film and conducted acting workshop for the secondary cast.

Kaizad S. Gandhi

While in Bombay, he did 5-6 gigs where he acted and was inculcated into administrative work as well. He acted in a play by Mahesh Dattani and assisted him in another. In is hometown, Ghaziabad, he directed a play for his Grandfather’s theatre company called Sadhana. He has assisted Tigmanshu Dhulia for a short film. In Delhi, he worked for the Theatre Garage Project with Ashwath Bhatt as a Production Manager. He is focusing on leading and developing his Grandfather's theatre company, Sadhana, in Ghaziabad, and taking his granddad's legacy further.

Karan Puri

After graduating from DSM, he has been writing, he has done a couple of ads for Royal Enfield,, Pizza Hut under various companies like Like Minded People, Little lamb productions, Royal Enfield and Dlecta. He wants to do cinema and theatre both, figuring out a way to move forward in this difficult work scenario.He’d like to take up photography as well.

Kartavya Sharma

After graduating from DSM, he did an indi-telugu film called Aithe 2.0. Participated in Prithvi Theatre’s festival called Thespo with a full length play called Lihaaf and qualified to the finals. Lihaaf was recently performed at Prithvi independently. He has worked with Theatre Garage productions. He wants to do theatre and aspires to be a master of clowning in the next 10 years.

Mandira Bahl

She taught at a school for special children and directed a play for their annual function.
She did an advanced course in photography and photoshop from Mumbai before moving to Delhi. In Delhi, she trained under a senior photographer and built her portfolio of photography and writing. She is now in New York doing a masters in photojournalism. She has interned with NDTV Goodtimes, ART India, Prithvi Theatre and BNHS (Bombay Natural History Society)

Niketan Sharma

He’d started his own production house a few years ago, called NOW productions under which he attended a few camera acting workshops of FTII people, assisted FTII people in conducting camera acting acting workshops.(5 workshops till now), individually taken theatre workshops. He has worked as an actor with Glen hayden (Australian director) in a performance based workshop in a thespo, did a short film with students of l V prasad film school, Chennai. He has written and directed short videos for Zee channel and for an App called Gorb.

Nikhil Murali

After graduating from DSM, he performed a play called 07/07/07 for Faezeh Jalali under FATS TheArts. He’s working on a play called 12 Angry Jurors directed by Nadir Khan, an Aadyam Initiative. He worked as an understudy for a Sunil Shanbag's play called Blank Page under Tamaasha Theatre and as an understudy for I Don't Like It As You Like It, directed by Rajat Kapoor, an Aadyam Initiative under Cinematograph/Rajat Kapoor's Production Co. He’s also worked with Rage Productions. He wants to keep telling stories.

Roshan Joseph Mathew

After graduating from DSM, he acted in a web series with Sony LIV called Tanlines, worked on FATS The Arts’ 07/07/07 by Faezeh Jalali, worked on Padma Damodaran's play ‘Given’ for Writers' Bloc, and acted in 3 south indian feature films called Adi Kapyare Kootamani, Puthiya Niyamam and Aanandam. Further, he wants to figure out where he'd like to be to do good work, without the fear of missing out on good work and with the assurance that he's doing well.

Shivam Dev Singh

After graduating, he did a play called Open Cast under the banner of Indian Ensemble and Mimansha Theatre (Backstage and acting respectively). He worked with Vivek Vijayakumaran for kodiyattam, and owns a youtube channel named The Aiwehi Talkies. Further, he wishes to do good work and develop his youtube channel.

Shristi Shrivastav

After graduating, she acted in FATS TheArts’ 07/07/07 by Faezeh Jalali. She has been the understudy for Moonfool, a devised performance piece by Shapeshift Collective. She has been doing the Girliyapa series by TVF. Not just that, she has been a part of a Dharma film called OK Jaanu. She wants to keep auditioning and make it really big in the industry.


Alumni 2015-16

Dheer Hira

Dheer Hira works as an actor, writer & director. He is currently assisting Mahesh Dattani on a play, as well as acting in Adrak, a Hindi play.

Gaurangi Dang

Since graduating from DSM, Gaurangi is working with Ramu Ramanathan. She is also acting in a play titled Crumpled: A Compilation of Imperfect Love Stories.

Kaustav Sinha

After DSM, Kaustav has been on a roll. He has worked with Barefoot! Productions in an ensemble play. He also did a play called Still and Still Moving, along with Beyond Bollywood, a bollywood musical. Currently Kaustav is acting in two plays, Oddbird Theatre’s Futureproof, and 50 Words.

He has also performed shows with Cueless Improv, the only improvisation group in Delhi. And has carried out a couple of workshops on ‘Theatre Aesthetics and Voice study' for school children, in Delhi and Kolkata.

Niharika Lyra Dutt

Niharika's film credits include 'This Will End in Murder', an independent feature by Pirate Productions. Her first professional play post The Drama School was 7/7/7. She also manages production for many plays including Bandish and Chuhal.

Nitika Arora

Nitika has been exploring historical reenactments with a theatre group in Delhi. She performed as part of Ravula, which looks at the mythological figure Ravan.

Rushabh Kamdar

After graduating from DSM, Rushabh has worked with Dur Se brothers, Yalgaar Sanskrutik Kala Manch, KSNA, and Art Junction, Poland.

Sagar Bhoir

Sagar has performed in Juliet aur Uska Romeo and has done a Marathi play called Bin Biyaanche Zaad. He works with TARAPA, a part of QUEST which is an organisation that works for tribal children. Sagar has performed a Goshtarang in schools in Palghar District as a part of TARAPA.

Sanket Kadam

Sanket has worked in two short films - The Girl, and Sky Full of Sea.

He has also acted in Bahut Bada Sawaal written by Mohan Rakesh, as well as in Juliet aur Uska Romeo. Sanket currently does a lot of corporate shows for Future Group India and Citibank. He has interned for Rajat Kapoor’s ‘I Don’t Like It As You Like It’. Sanket also conducts physical movement, speech and text workshops.

Shreeram Chaudhari

Shreeram acted in Juliet aur Uska Romeo, along with a Marathi play Bin Biyancha Zaad.

He also has to his credit, a small role in Manto by Nandita Das (currently under production). He has under his belt a Marathi short film Eka Kachryachi Goshta

Shreeram, like Sagar, works with QUEST and TARAPA and performs Goshtarang across schools in Palghar and Pune.

Shubhankar Tawde

Shubhankar has worked with theatre groups like Dark Heaven and Ruia Natyavalay. Currently, he can be seen in the Marathi serial Freshers on Zee Yuva channel.

Trinetra Tiwari

Trinetra hails from Rajasthan and has acted in several folk plays back home. He is multi-faceted, working as an actor, writer and director, and light designer and production manager.

He currently works as the production manager for Tricycle Productions’ Lihaaf. He has also co-directed the play Adrak with Niketan Sharma, and has also designed the lights for the production.

Vaishnavi Ratna Prashant

Vaishnavi started a Theatre Company, named BeTaal with Abhinav Grover, another alumnus of DSM. Under Betaal, they have done 3 plays - Paanchvaali, Chenda and Rushomon. Out of which Paanchvali and Chenda were officially selected and performed at Thespo18.

She also stars in Bunmaska, a Marathi TV series on the channel Zee Yuva. On stage, she did Ripples, an english play by Gerish Khemani

Vivaan Parashar

Vivaan worked in a play titled OPEN, and now he is acting in NCPA’s The Little Prince.

Vivaan wrote, directed and performed two solo acts - Duniya Bhi Kamaal Karti Hai and Rohan - mentored by director Sunil Shanbag. He is currently working as Stage Manager for Motley’s play Riding Madly in All Directions, starring Naseeruddin Shah.

Vivaan also acted in a Marathi film titled Manjha, and has recently bagged the lead role in an untitled, under production web film.
